Backpacker's Car Market

Sydney, Australia

If you have a low budget and you desperately need a car or you want to sell your car check out Backpacker's Car Market in Kings Cross. Many Backpackers sell their cars here once they finished travelling. You will mainly find station wagons, campervans and 4WD. Sometimes you get really good deals because people often have to sell their cars quickly to go back home. If you try to sell your car here, good luck! Sometimes you might be lucky, but sometimes you might have to spend a few days in this underground car park and wait for customers (good for socializing though). I ended up selling my car through Trading Post after spending 1 day in the car park. It...

World heritage in Trier - The Porta Nigra

Trier, Germany

One of the best preserved gates of the ancient world and the best preserved Roman gate north of the Alps. The name Porta Nigra (Latin: black gate) originated in the Middle Ages due to the darkened color of its stone; the original Roman name has not been preserved. Locals commonly refer to the Porta Nigra simply as Porta.

Auckland Museum

Auckland, New Zealand

Definitely a must-see on your short-term or long-term stay in Auckland, Auckland Museum is situated near the city centre in the Auckland Domain in a 19th century neo-classical building. On three floors you can learn more about NewZealand's history, nature and indigenous people. Don't miss the Maori performance with its fascinating dances and songs as well as interesting facts about Maori culture. Admission to the museum is on donation basis of $5. This museum is certainly a key destination for families and children. http://www.aucklandmuseum.com/

Two favourites

Linköping, Sweden
My home city Linköping: There are two areas in the city that are really worth a visit. One of them is the ancient part of the city centre, which I have the advantage of passing every time that I go downtown. The most conspicuous feature here is the dome. It is visible from far away when you approach Linköping from the west-north. You might say that it makes the silhouette of Linköping to the unique, recognizable characteristic of our city. And it is beautiful to look at as well. Around the dome there are ancient quarters, houses that really look very old and some small very pleasant streets. You get the most of them if you go along on a guided...

The Perito Moreno Glacier´s 2006 rupture

Santa Cruz, Argentina
This event, the rupture of the Perito Moreno Glaciar in Argentina, used to happend every 4 years until 1982 when it stopped collapsing. Scientis attributed this stop to global warming. But in 2006 it started happening again, the glacier started to collapse, and in 2007 it happened again. And now it grew back again.

Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall

Beijing, China

A good place to get some information about Beijing is the Planning Exhibition Hall. A massive scale model of the city, which takes up an entire floor gives the visitor a better idea about the city layout and size than any map. Two films show the history of the city and the development of the modern city today. Another part of the museum gives information about hutongs and traditional homes. Since the museum is very close to Tiananmen Square, it's easy to find. A good day of sightseeing could be the following: Planning Exhibition Hall Walk accross Tiananmen Square Visit the Forbitten City (get out the other end) Climb the Coal Hill for a great view (it's all very close together)...
