Museum and shop

If you’d like to escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital city and you step into the Jim-Thompson-House at the end of a small alley, you will dive into a magical world. Everything seems to be a bit dimmed-down in the grand scale garden estate with palm trees, lily pond and teakwood houses. The Thais, who manage to combine salesmanship in a wonderful way with aesthetics, have succeeded in making this a place full of harmony. Visitors of the museum will find the shop on the left hand side – what a shop! Silk, fabrics, scarves, shawls, ties, cushions – colorful but not screaming. Thompson managed to create a wonderful location here. Queen Sirikit used to do her shopping here already. There is no trash, but everywhere this soft breeze and this perfect presentation. The silk is rustling, the myths about Mr. Thompson, who at some stage disappeared in the Malaysian jungle while going for a walk, are blossoming, and the Bougainvillea in the garden is in bloom.

Jim-Thompson-Haus, Soi Kasemsan 2/Ecke Rama I Road,
Open from Monday to Friday from 9 am - 5 pm.
Entrance 100 Baht (about 2 Euros)
