Ponsonby - living in walking distance to the city centre

If you work in the city and you want to live in a nice and quiet area but still want to be able to walk to work then Ponsonby is the suburb you should move to. It is one of the oldest parts of Auckland and therefore you'll find lots of old historic houses. I love walking through the quiet small streets of Ponsonby looking at all these cute and romantic wooden homes. This is definitely something you couldn't find in Germany... But you need a good heater in winter because they are not very well insulated and can become quite cold.
Apart from all these nice houses there is Ponsonby Rd which is said to be one of the trendiest streets in Auckland with lots of bars and cafes. People say about Ponsonby that it is "posh" which might be a bit true... You see lots of dressed-up people. But I still like it.
