NZ nannies and babysitters

Nannies in New Zealand usually charge around $15 per hour when they work as individuals. Individuals are best found through websites with 'job wanted' categories and sometimes advertise in local newspapers.
If you go through an agency expect to pay a booking fee and then an hourly rate of around $17 per hour. This makes for a very expensive day (we spent about $150 when we had a whole day out at a wedding) but if you have no family it's unavoidable.
For a more regular arrangement try services like Barnardos KidStart and Jemma's, which offer great carers for around $5 per hour.
