Miami Science Museum

When I was little, my parents would have me spend half the summer at a “normal” camp (swimming, crafts, even archery) and the other part with the Museum of Science. I loved the classes there so much – from expeditions trekking through local swamps to sessions learning about dinosaurs – that I begged my parents to let me spend the full summer at the Museum, which I did through my early teen years.
When I took my son to the Museum last month, I found that the names of my favorite dinosaurs had all changed (so long, Brontosaurus!) but the Museum was still the thrilling, enriching place it always has been. In addition to the permanent Wildlife Center and hands-on activities teaching young ones about sound and motion, the Museum now hosts traveling exhibits of national caliber. The adjoining Planetarium is still in full swing, with daily fascinating shows about the cosmos.
The website for the museum is www.miamisci.org. Hope you and your family enjoy it as much as I have!
