Rangitoto Island
If you live in Auckland you have to go to Rangitoto Island. To get there it only takes about 30 min. by ferry. On the ferry you get to enjoy wonderful views of Auckland and its islands. The island itself is fascinating: You walk along a path with black volcanic rocks to left and to the right. Walking up to the top of the volcano takes about 1 1/2 hours. If you take your kids you can also drive up to the top. On top of the volcano (which is not active anymore) you have amazing views again. So don't forget to bring your camera.

Auckland depart 9.15am; 12.15pm & 3pm; Rangitoto depart 9.45am; 12.45pm & 3.30pm
On weekends & public holidays the last ferry back is at 4pm
